If the success of any book is measured solely by celebrity endorsement, then The Naked CEO is already a massive bestseller. So many people from the worlds of banking, accountancy, manufacturing, the media and even government say this is a great read. The story in itself is interesting enough–even a schoolboy with a record for bad behaviour can eventually become a CEO, respected by his peers. Alex Malley has led a life rich in successes and mistakes; be inspired by his unabashed real-life stories and how he has learned a lot about what it takes successfully to build not only a big career, but also a big life. But don’t be misled by the hype–at best this is reasonably good primer for someone about to embark on a career for the first time with standard, practical advice on how to be a leader, the importance of being organised and an active networker while also touching on basic skills, such as setting priorities, building confidence and how to delegate effectively. Just don’t expect this book to change your life–buy it for someone starting their first job because there are better titles available for people looking to transition from department head to CEO.
